Internship Details:
We are a very diversified farm with many different opportunities. In the spring, we plant tomatoes in our 2 high tunnels. Also, we plant sweet corn, cucumbers, kohlrabi, cherry tomatoes, and outside tomatoes as well. We would like to expand what we grow and would like to do this if we are able to add another employee. In the summer we work hard daily at harvesting and marketing the produce. We do not do any farmers markets yet but would be open to an employee taking that on. Our main way to sell is at our honor system produce stands. After Labor Day, we shift our attention to our Fall Festival. We have wagon rides out the pumpkin patch and a free sunflower festival in September. We also have over 70 family friendly attractions which draw thousands of guests from all over Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. The ideal candidate would be able to help during that season. Our farm has not hired a full time employee for over 20 years. If things work out well, the candidate will be offered a full time job at our farm.
Educational Opportunities: You will learn many skills daily on how to grow produce and market that produce. We hope to learn from you as well!
Skills Desired: Be reliable, show up on time, can work without supervision and work hard. We also would like a candidate that will pick things up quickly. Candidates should be able to lift at least 40 lbs often from time to time. A positive attitude is also a plus!
Meals: No
Stipend: We will offer $15 an hour with possible bonuses.
Housing: No
