Internship Starts: 23-May
Internship Ends: September 4, longer if you choose
Number of Internship Available: 1
Application Deadline: 18-Apr
Minimum Length of Stay: prefer whole season, would consider half season
Internship Details:
In trade for a good roof and lots of good grade B veggies, I was hoping for 6 hours per week of hands on work, some weeks may be more but not required. Anything beyond 6 hours I am willing to compensate for. Early season will be mulching, hand weeding, some hoeing and participating in transplanting along with baling hay in June. Mid-season will be helping more with harvesting and weed control, August is busy with harvesting green beans, weeds and a late season baling.
Educational Opportunities: I was fortunate enough to have a really knowledgeable employer in my past and many experiences in farming to share. I am a carpenter, have a stick welder on site, mechanical skills, we can, ferment, pickle and preserve foods. Learn to drive a tractor or stick shift?
Skills Desired: Some farm experience would be good but not necessary.
Meals: meals not provided but the garden is loaded with grade B veggies to eat and a few leftovers from market. slightly bruised but delicious. lots of natural berries, plums, mushrooms and more on the land.
Stipend: if working for more than 6 hours per week, monetary compensation at $10/ hour. my partner chefs and owns a busy small local food restaurant with employment opportunities there on weekends in stockholm wisconsin.
Housing: yes, we have a 1953 full size school bus that was renovated in the 1980's and are in the act of cleaning it up and getting it ready. has a back bedroom, compost toilet area, full kitchen with storage and a stove and gravity H2O to the sink. is parked 200 yards in the woods from next years garden. only 6' 2"ceiling!! should be clean and cozy by late may. maybe an opportunity to help finish some details in the bus. will have a woodstove for chilly nights.
