Internship information
General Farm Description: "HK / New Era Dairy is a small holistically run goat and cow dairy farm producing milk for farmstead cheese production and sales of fluid milk to other creameries. The creamery is entering its 11 th year of production. The farm is located in south central Michigan, fifteen miles from Michigan State University. We have been raising dairy goats for over fourty eight years and dairy cattle even longer. The goat herd is comprised of all of the standard dairy breeds with the two major breeds being Alpines and Saanens. The dairy cattle are Brown Swiss. The entire goat herd has been raised using CAE prevention protocol. The farm is not a seasonal dairy. The goats are bred to freshen throughout the year to assure a year around milk supply for the creameries. Rusty began making cheese over 48 years ago on his family farm. We specialize in European style cow, goat and mixed milk cheeses."CRAFT Member Farm? No
