We are now offering a seasonal apprenticeship program for folks who love farming, want to learn how to farm, and the lifestyle of working the land sustainably. We are a 42 acre certified organic farm that is located directly on the banks of the Rondout River in High Falls, NY.
We use a Kubota 96 Hp tractor, a 4w side by side, and many different field prep, seeding, cultivating, transplanting implements to compliment our machines.
We work closely with local restaurants, have a small 30 member CSA program, attend a weekly farm market, and host seasonal events on the farm.
We are USDA Certified organic and are strong supporters of smalls farms taking back our food system.
Our season starts full time in April and goes through September. We are flexible with start dates as well though. A typical work week is 7am-5pm M-F, with one half day. Also there is rotating or full time market work if interested.
The option of living on the farm is available and preferred, there are 3, 4-season canvas bell tents and platforms that have small decks over looking the river. They have electric and queen size beds with complete bug protection. There is an employee bathroom, shower, kitchen, fridges and freezers. The farm provides basic meat, veggies, and grains for the crew throughout the season.
During the off hours we are relaxing in the hammocks, swimming in the river in our backyard, playing music, and hanging out with our 2 dogs Ruby and Gustavo.
Educational Opportunities: Absolutely, we believe that we learn by doing and farmer transparency. There are also open weekly meetings to field any questions of the operation
