Internship information
General Farm Description: "Season's Bounty Farm grows approximately 6 acres of fresh vegetables, melons, and flowers in fabulous soil along the tree-lined Linville Creek in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The six, 100-foot long hoophouses help extend the season on both ends. We are establishing a blueberry orchard as well, with 500 blueberry plants going in the spring of 2020. We also have about 60 acres of pasture for our flock of sheep. All of our produce is grown without the use of pesticides to provide fresh, healthy, flavorful produce for the local community. Our produce is marketed through a 180-member CSA (beginning its 15th season) and through the local farmers market, and to local restaurants and stores. Downtown Harrisonburg is only 5 miles away where there is a lot of support for local food and farming. The National Forest and Shenandoah National Park are both within 45 minutes of the farm. "CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
“The internship positions deal mostly with the produce side of the farm, although there will be times when they will also be involved with getting the blueberry orchard established and occasionally with the sheep side of the farm like during shearing or when moving the flock to different locations. The positions are all based on 40 hours/week. 2 vacation days/month. We invite you to come to the farm for an in-person, working interview. Check out our website at seasonsbountyfarm.com”
Educational Opportunities: "There is a strong educational component to the internship positions, so that by the end of the summer you will have a good understanding of the variety of planning, work and marketing required to run a successful produce business. You will be involved in the soil preparation, seeding, transplanting, hoeing, weeding, pruning, mulching, irrigating, controlling pests, harvesting, washing, sorting and selling. We will also take time every other week for workshops or tours of other farms in the Shenandoah Valley that market their products locally."

Meals: "During the CSA season, the Friday noon meal is provided for the whole crew to eat together in the shade along Linville Creek. Abundant fresh produce is available to take home for other meals as the crops come into season. Occasional campfire meals at the picnic area "
