Internship information
General Farm Description: We have been growing veggies and fruit for over 25 years on this property. Every year we learn more and we love learning! We try to grow as much of our own food as possible especially in the summer. Putting up food for the winter is something we do via pickling, freezing, drying, and canning. We are hoping at least one of our goats is pregnant!! We have 2 different small flocks of chickens and are currently working on building a new wood fired sauna and hot tub. We run Farm to Table Dinners and Brunches in the summer with food that we have grown. We are a multi-generational household. LGBQT+ encouraged to apply! Must be Covid vaccinated and non smoking.CRAFT Member Farm? No
Internship Starts: March thru October-flexible start and end dates
Internship Ends: Flexible
Number of Internship Available: 2
Application Deadline: asap
Minimum Length of Stay: 3 weeks

Coyote Farm is an 8-acre family-run farm on Bainbridge Island, 40 minutes from Seattle. We operate a 5,000 sq. ft. vegetable garden as well as a 500sq. ft. greenhouse, a large fruit orchard, several goats that we are hoping will be in milk this spring and a small flock of chickens. We welcome guests to the farm through our farm-to-table dinner clubs and brunch clubs throughout the summer. Our farm rests on one of the highest places on Bainbridge Island and we have a stunning view of the Olympic mountains when it is clear. We are a 8-minute car ride or 20-minute bike ride from the quaint downtown area, as well as the Seattle ferry dock. We are hoping to have classes/experiences this summer for people to interact with and learn about the farm. The farm is located just a quick 5-minute walk from the Grand Forest, a fantastic network of hiking and biking trails that spans the island. There is an active woodshop on the property, building local furniture and processing local lumber. In the summer of 2023 with the help of a few fantastic interns, we will be creating a planting in our new terraced herb garden area, as well as refining our raspberry patch. Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID. We are a smoke-free farm. We do onsite composting, and mulching, cover crop/crop rotation. We use no chemicals or pesticides, but do not have an official Organic designation. Current projects: Duties will include: All aspects of garden and orchard work; weeding, pruning, planting, transplanting, thinning, harvesting, processing… Chicken care; feeding, moving, cleaning, Goat care; feeding, cleaning, milking, cheesemaking Dinner/brunch Club tasks; preparing food, serving, cleaning Duties may include: leading farm tours Tractor work; mowing, turning compost piles MISC farm jobs Interns will be working on their own and alongside farmers to keep Coyote Farm up and running during the summer. We had a fantastic experience with Farm to Table Secret Dinner Club for the last two years, and are excited to expand that this year with the help of interns. Work will be approx. 20-30 hours/week, with days off being flexible. Interns are free to do whatever they would like in their free time or are welcome to hang around the farm. We usually have a farm dinner on Friday nights and you are welcome to eat with us whenever you desire. Please email with your relevant experience and why you would be a good fit on the farm.
