General Farm Description: The Coupeville Farm to School program is a community-driven, community-supported effort to help our kids get excited about learning the science and art behind gardening, farming, growing their own food, cooking, nutrition, and setting healthy eating habits at a young age. Internship Details:
AmeriCorps School Food Educators serving with Coupeville Farm to School will be partnering with the Coupeville School District and South Whidbey Good Cheer to teach kids hands-on gardening and cooking. Food Educators will be completing their service in school, with students, during the school day. Service runs from September 16th to July 31st. Food educators will be service under the supervision of the School Garden Coordinator. Must be 17-25 years old at the start of service.
Service Description
– Lead garden lessons and cooking lessons
– Lead out of school programming and cooking clubs
– Support special events for families and community members
– Support social media, newsletter, and website for program
– Maintain and improve school gardens
– Work directly with the Coupeville School District and South Whidbey Good Cheer
Team
Coupeville Farm to School is a team consisting of a School Garden Coordinator, a School Farmer, and two AmeriCorps members. We have an active and engaged board of nine members, involved community members, and dedicated volunteers. We partner with other non-profits on the island with similar missions and collaborate with teachers and school district members daily.

Educational Opportunities: Interns will have opportunities to develop their gardening, farming, cooking, nutrition, and teaching skills. They will be given professional development opportunities with organizations on the island and beyond. Interns will have the opportunity to learn marketing and social media skills as well.
Skills Desired: Any experience is accepted, suggested experience with gardening, farming, or education. As an AmeriCorps members, training will be given in all areas of service.
Meals: no
Stipend: $1,571/month stipend, student loan forbearance, basic health insurance, childcare (if applicable), and a $6,345 education award upon completion
Housing: AmeriCorps members are responsible for finding their own housing, and Coupeville Farm to School is committed to finding affordable housing options and opportunities for AmeriCorps members.
