We offer farm apprentices a $300 a month educational stipend plus food and land access benefits. We teach sustainable agricultural practices like rotational grazing, silvopasture and woodland management, as well as animal husbandry (specializing in rabbits), green building, and the business of small, sustainable market-farming and small scale agritourism. The farm is a micro-farm — just under 5 acres — perched on a mountain top in the Blueridge, offering unique opportunities to study microclimates, terracing, and low-till, regrarian farming methods. 4WD/AWD transportation necessary. Rudimentary housing with hot running water & composting toilet plus outdoor kitchen available.
Educational Opportunities: Permaculture, low-till gardening, forest/woodland management, business of small-scale permaculture & market gardening, animal husbandry, agritourism marketing/business
Skills Desired: Some knowledge of farms and farming would be helpful but mostly, I'm looking for a hard worker grounded in permaculture principles looking to learn and committed to regenerative agricultural practices. Responsible, loyal, no drama.
