General Farm Description: Big Sage Organics is rapidly expanding WSDA certified organic, diversified vegetable operation in central Washington States arid Columbia basin farming region. Growing on 30acres, we raise a large variety fruits and vegetables for a variety of markets including; wholesale, farmers market, local retailers and CSA.

Internship Details:

Big Sage is looking to hire up to four full time paid individuals to work in rotating disciplines dependent upon time of year and length of stay. Experience not required. Individuals must be willing and able to lift up to 50# regularly and work outside in all conditions. Farm-work is physical and challenging and individuals must be prepared for regular physical labor. Interns will participate in field crew activities including but not limited to; planting, hoeing, harvesting and all things related to vegetable production. Interns will also rotate in packing shed activities to include but not limited to; washing, sorting, packing, organizing, logging and general shed maintenance. Interns will also participate in greenhouse activities including but not limited too; tray seeding, watering, fertilizing, greenhouse maintenance, logging, upkeep and improvement.

All farm work is seasonal and the experience depends entirely upon the length of season over the course of the season. The longer the commitment the more diverse the experience. 3 month minimum stay is required. Compensation is WA state min wage $13.69/hr and hours will be limited to 30hrs/week five days per week.

Additional compensation for interns interested in attending farmers market on Saturday regularly.

Big Sage does provide a housing site to those looking to move to work which includes an option of tiny house and camper accommodations (first come, first serve basis) with shared restrooms, fresh water, shower, refrigeration, a/c and laundry facilities. Accommodations range from $150/month for campers and $250/month for tiny house accommodations. Rent includes all utilities.

Big Sage is in a rural setting and a vehicle is not required but highly recommended. Please inquire with questions concerning living on the farm.

Big Sage is also hiring for full time positions for both hourly seasonal field crew and shed crew as well as Harvest Crew leader position.
*Harvest Crew Leader must have experience, compensation starts at $15.50/hr. Please inquire via email.
