General Farm Description: SpringRain Farm & Orchard is a certified organic family farm located in the heart of Chimacum on 28 acres of prime agricultural land. Our production model is very diversified and seasonally variable. We grow a wide variety of small fruits, orchard fruits, perennial vegetables, greenhouse crops, salad greens, and also produce eggs, chicken, rabbit, and duck. SpringRain Farm is an established producer of top quality meat, greenhouse, and field crops and uses the best low-tech organic production strategies including plant grafting, irrigation timing, automatic ventilation, crop variety and succession planning, trellis techniques, and harvest and post-harvest management. Our mission is to use the best available knowledge to sustainably and organically produce food for our local community. We sell 100% of our products within a 75 mile radius and strive to provide a wide range of healthy, ethically-raised food to our local community. We use a diversified farming system that involves protein, vegetables, fruit, and pollinators to provide the most sustainable system possible. We take our cue from nature and strive to develop an ecological system that closely matches a natural ecosystem. At SpringRain Farm, we are committed to conservation and caring for the land we live and grow on. We work with the USDA to employ conservation practices designed to protect soil and water quality, we have worked to restore Chimacum Creek, a critical habitat for salmon, established a riparian buffer and planted native tree species, and donated a conservation easement on the farm to the Jefferson Land Trust, which means our property is protected forever as farm land. We generate power with two solar systems and are installing a wind turbine. We think deeply about the health of the soil, the water, the animals, the plants, and the people we farm with. Our positions are filled for the 2025 season.

Educational Opportunities: Training in all the things you will do; discussions of business aspects of the farm; weekly meetings focused on skill and knowledge development.

Skills Desired: At least 2 seasons of experience working in diversified organic agriculture.

Meals: No

Stipend: Compensation is $17.00 per hour, Free on-farm housing, Employee Assistance Program, paid sick leave, paid medical/family leave, and seasonal produce from the farm. Winter work may be available, but is not guaranteed. We are looking for folks interested in working with us permanently.
