General Farm Description: Rime Farm is a diversified, organic, family-run farm in Charlotte, Maine, located on 143 acres in rural Washington County. We raise pastured livestock, dairy goats, laying hens, broilers, pigs, and grass-fed beef, alongside organic vegetables, herbs, berries, value-added farm products, and a small CSA. Our farm serves local families through direct farmers market sales, our farm stand, CSA shares, Maine Senior Farm Share, SNAP/WIC access, and community-based food programs.

This is a good fit for someone who is dependable, curious, physically able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, kind to animals, and willing to jump into a wide variety of tasks. We value communication, common sense, a good attitude, and respect for the land, animals, customers, and each other. Farming here is rewarding, but it is also muddy, busy, physical, and very real. Interns should expect to learn by doing and be a quick study.
Rime Farm isn’t a large commercial operation or a polished agritourism site. It is a growing working farm with big goals: producing good food, improving the land, expanding local food access, and building long-term agricultural resilience in rural Maine.
Educational Opportunities: Interns at Rime Farm get hands-on experience with the real work of a small diversified farm. Interns will spend a good portion of the day in an organic garden. They will help with animal care, rotational grazing, milking, egg collection, vegetable production, harvesting, washing and packing produce, farmers market or farm stand prep, value-added products, fencing, infrastructure projects, and general farm maintenance. We are especially interested in interns who want to learn about food access, rural agriculture, resilient farm systems, and the practical realities of building a working farm business.
Skills Desired: Farm experience preferred. It's a fast-paced environment and we're slammed busy! Prefer someone who can hit the ground running or is a quick study.
