Internship information

General Farm Description: Pasture 42 is a family run, 100-acre, direct-to-consumer, regenerative farm located in the Capay Valley in Yolo County, California. We specialize in pastured livestock including cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks and pigs and also grow olives, hay, orchard fruit, and nuts.

Internship Details:

We are looking for farmers to participate in the wide array of activities that we have going on at Pasture 42. Work hours may fluctuate and are dependent on the time of year and farm needs. Our work is rooted in organic, regenerative agricultural practices, so applicants should have a philosophical and operational agreement with such methods. We prefer people who would like to pursue a career in agriculture and offer the possibility of long-term employment and advancement.
Responsibilities can include:
Rotating chickens, ducks, sheep, cattle, and pigs in the pasture, feeding animals, irrigating, collecting and cleaning eggs, building, welding, pruning, weeding, operating farm machinery, including planting, mowing, and making hay, maintaining farm machinery, attending farmers markets, preparing products for farmers markets.

Educational Opportunities: While we do not offer any specific educational opportunities we are willing to train those who are interested and who show promise in any and all aspects of our business. 

Skills Desired: We prefer people with a desire to pursue a career in agriculture. Must be a motivated, self-starter with a positive attitude, must be detail-oriented and food safety conscious with exceptional multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills. Experience with farm machinery is a plus but not required.  

Meals: Some farm goods are provided.
