General Farm Description: We are a 15-acre organic fruit farm located in the foothills of Newcastle, CA. We grow a variety of citrus, plums, apples, and pears. Our farm store is open seasonally where we sell our fruit and other local products. We offer u-pick where customers come to pick their own fruit, hike the orchard, and enjoy the spectacular view. We don't call ourselves Sunset Ridge for nothing!

Internship Details:

We are looking for two hardworking and responsible farm interns, preferably a couple, to join our team for the fall of 2022! This internship requires a 40-hour work week at $500/week with housing provided. You will be responsible for a variety of farm tasks including, but not limited to, irrigation maintenance, pruning, weed whacking, fertilizer and organic pesticide applications, harvesting, fruit packing, and occasional assistance in our retail farm store. Applicants must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in high temperatures. After training, we expect our interns to work quick, follow direction, be self-directed, and early to rise. This position is for someone who is eager to learn about farming and willing to work hard.

However, when work is done it is time to relax! Living quarters include heat, AC, internet, toilet, shower, and kitchen with a beautiful view of the Sutter Buttes. We are located only 15 minutes from the American River with various hiking and biking trails, an hour from ski slopes, and two hours from the beach. Drug and alcohol abuse will not be tolerated, and guests are allowed by permission only. Interns will need to have access to their own means of transportation.
