Internship information
General Farm Description: Certified organic farm on Tide Mill Farm, a nine generation family farm on the bold coast of north east Maine. We raise and process 1000 chickens a week and 1200 holiday turkeys a year. We milk 30 cows once a day and bottle 300 to 500 gallons a week. We have 20 to 30 pigs on the farm at any given time. We bottle our own raw milk and operate a year-round farm stand and seasonal farmers markets as well as weekly deliveries to 60 to 80 wholesale accounts.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
There is flexibility in focus and amount of time spent in our different jobs based on the interest of the applicant.
Jobs include but are not limited to:
Feeding, watering, bedding and general tending to the animals: chicks, chickens, turkeys, pigs, and calves.
Assisting in milking the cows.
Processing and packaging chickens and turkeys as well as cleaning and set up of the processing rooms
Bottling milk.
Making various value added dairy products such as yogurt, greek yogurt, flavored syrups and ricotta.
Packing orders, packing trucks for deliveries and markets, packing meat boxes for shipping. Participating in the on-farm market on Saturdays if desired.
Washing bins. Fencing.

Skills Desired: Mostly we are looking for an individual with a good attitude, who can work hard and have endurance, patience and competency to grow, process, and feed people great food, that is good for them and supports a healthy farm ecosystem and community.
Meals: We provide ingredients but don't provide prepared meals on a regular basis.
Stipend: Yes, starting at $300 a week and can increase based on experience.
