General Farm Description: Chickadee Farms is a 1 acre intensively managed small produce farm Certified Naturally Grown, the farm uses regenerative/organic practices to grow flowers, herbs and produce. The farm runs a 24 week CSA program, sells to local restaurants and attends Farmer’s Market where high quality produce and relationships are the top priority. Minimum Length of Stay: 4 months
Internship Details:
March-November
Work 4 days on farm
Intern must own a car and cell phone
Greenhouse seeding, watering and management
Field preparation, transplanting and seeding crops
Weeding/Trellising
Pest and disease scouting
Setting up, managing and pulling out irrigation and landscape fabric, row cover etc.
High Tunnel planting, management and moving
Harvesting and Post Harvest Handling
Alot of Farm Dishes!
Assistance in Construction/ Maintenance Projects
Educational Opportunities: Learn how to run an intensively managed produce farm, from field planting, harvesting, to washing a packing. Intern will have access to farm books and resources as well as networking within the farming community.
Skills Desired: Strong work ethic required. We seek individuals who are hard-working, motivated, and dedicated to sustainable farming. Productivity, alertness, speed, and problem-solving skills are important for the work required.
