General Farm Description: Blackwood Educational Land Institute is a non-profit, 33-acre teaching farm perfectly located between Houston, Austin, and College Station. We're on a mission to model the indispensable role of regenerative agriculture and food systems in all our lives and serve our community through educational programs such as summer camps and field trips, as well as distribution of produce through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.CRAFT Member Farm? Internship Details:
Blackwood Educational Land Institute is seeking a part-time farm assistant to help with most aspects of crop production including starting seed trays for the greenhouse, direct seeding, weeding, transplanting, cultivating, and participating in all post harvest cleaning and packaging processes. There are opportunities to be considered for full-time employment once the first six months of the internship has concluded. Applicants must have their own reliable transportation to and from work, pass a criminal background check, and participate in drug testing. During the internship, the part-time farm assistant will receive on-the-job training, under the direction of the Farm Director, on regenerative agriculture principles, permaculture design principles, holistic management of the land, organic practices and GAP and FSMA certification requirements.
