Internship information
General Farm Description: Assawaga Farm is a no-till market farm in Putnam, CT growing a diverse range of Certified Organic vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers. Yoko and Alex purchased the land in 2016 and built the farm from the ground up. The farm is in its 7th season and sells through a weekly farmers market and a farmstand on-site on Saturdays from May to November. The farm is on Nipmuc land and is bordered by the Five Mile (Assawaga) River. We strive to grow the most nutritious produce and healthiest soil, to be as self-sufficient and resilient as possible, to provide a safe and rewarding workplace and career option, and to build community around our farm. We employ many soil health practices such as no-till, multi-species cover cropping, making on-farm compost, brewing teas/extracts and installing perennial hedgerows.CRAFT Member Farm? Yes
