Raising Sheep, Marketing Lamb and Conserving Farmland: Farmer Field Day

This OAK Field Day will highlight Jim Mansfield and Lynn Pruett’s Four Hills Farm, including their history in the sheep business, considerations for choosing and managing pasture-raised Katahdin hair sheep, details on creating a multi-farm supply chain, and the work of preserving their farmland through sustainable renovation and a conservation easement. Jim and Lynn will demonstrate their working systems, current land and livestock management practices, and how old and new structures and approaches can create a sustainable life for the flock, guardian dogs and family.
