Iowa Family Transitions from Hog Farming to Mushroom Production

A feature from National Public Radio explains how the Faaborg family switched from industrial hog production in Iowa to growing specialty mushrooms and selling value-added products such as tinctures, coffee blends, and flavored salt. The Transfarmation Project, an initiative of the charitable organization Mercy for Animals, offered technical and financial support for the switch, including open-source plans for converting existing farm buildings to new purposes.
