Matching Livestock to Land Helps Oklahoma Farmer Build Successful Business

Brett Peshek studied his land in Oklahoma and realized that it wasn’t well suited to continuous cattle production, reports Farm Progress. In his effort to align with an ecological system for regenerative agriculture, Peshek noted that bison historically grazed this land and then migrated, while deer and antelope stayed in the area. He switched his operation to producing sheep, hogs, and chickens, with stocker cattle on occasion for short-term grazing. This strategy helped smooth out cash flow and allowed Peshek to also develop a successful cover crop seed business.
