Internship information

General Farm Description: The farm hosts a 300 member CSA program and sells weekly at the Carrboro Farmers' Market. Next season we will be entering our 25th year in production. We practice no/low till in all of our high tunnels while using a tractor for the field crops. We practice tarp rotations and use the Paperpot Transplanter while growing on four acres of land and in 7 tunnels. You will have the opportunity to learn how to grow food and operate a successful business while working on this farm. In 2025 there will be several return employees, we are looking for a few kind hearted and hard working people to round out this crew!

Internship Details:

Producing high quality produce for the past 24 years, we host a 300 member CSA program and sell weekly at the Carrboro Farmers’ Market. EFF is a Certified Living Wage Employer, offering $17.65/hour starting with a one week paid vacation. Please email a resume and cover letter to Elise at elysianfieldsfarmnc@gmail.com. Educational Opportunities: You will learn a lot about running an efficient and successful farm business by working at this farm. Seed propagation (greenhouse and field), transplanting (timing and successions), crop rotation, weed management, pest and disease management, cover cropping, soil fertility, harvest and post-harvest techniques, marketing and profit/loss budgeting. The farm is a member of the Triangle CRAFT program offering you monthly opportunities to visit other nearby farms and learn from them as well.

Skills Desired: In search of mature interns with a strong work ethic. Experience can be helpful, but is not necessary. A positive attitude and commitment to doing good work is a must. You need to be enthusiastic about farming and learning, enjoy physical work in all kinds of weather and being tired at the end of the day. It is important that interns approach the work on the farm with a sense of urgency and attention to detail.

Stipend: $17.65/hour starting, a one week paid vacation, registration to the annual CFSA conference and produce (seconds/left overs).
