The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Specialty Crop Preparing for Extreme Weather (Prepare) Grant. The program helps specialty crop growers in Minnesota purchase and install supplies or equipment that make their operations more resilient to drought, flooding, hail, severe storms, and other extreme weather events. Up to $500,000 is available for the AGRI Prepare Grant. Applicants may request $500 up to $10,000 for their project, and a dollar-for-dollar match is required. Priority will be given to applicants who have farmed for 10 years or less. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, water tanks, wells, pipelines, irrigation equipment, rain barrels, hail netting, and frost protection.
