The Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SSARE) program is adding a new Producer-High Density seat to its Administrative Council, the governing body for the program in the Southern region. The Producer-High Density member is a farmer representative with emphasis on high density populated area production and community, and the unique opportunities and challenges that are associated with farming in the city. The member serves as a representative to improve quality of life, foster economic stability, support new innovations, and advance community development. Producer-High Density operations can include, but are not limited to, small space agriculture; small-scale farms; rooftop, indoor, and vertical farms; and hydroponic, aeroponic, and aquaponic operations. Southern SARE is inviting nominations until January 8, 2027, from qualified individuals to fill this new seat. Nominations from all 13 states in the southern region, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands will be considered.
