Minnesota Farmer Survey Results Highlight Best Practices for Supporting Climate Resilience

From the fall of 2024 until 2026, the University of Minnesota and the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy conducted research supported by the Agroecology Fund to document the best strategies to support farmers to implement climate-resilient agricultural practices and advance agroecology in Minnesota. Through this project, researchers collected information from 462 farmers in a survey, as well as examining public data on existing programs at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. The researchers published their results in a report that also offers policy recommendations focused on increasing funding and strengthening state programs for emerging farmers who want to build climate resilience and implement sustainable, agroecological practices on their farms.
