Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT) is offering two categories of Fund-a-Farmer grants this year: Welfare Improvement Grants up to $3,500 each and four Systems Change and Innovation Grants of $10,000 each. FACT will fund around 60 $3,500 Fund-a-Farmer grants that improve the lives of farm animals, help farmers pursuing animal welfare certification, or help farmers who already have animal welfare certification maintain that certification, improve animals’ living conditions, or help market and sell products from certified animals. Applications for Welfare Improvement Grants will be closed after FACT receives 300 applications. Systems Change and Innovation Grants are available to support installing the infrastructure necessary to convert from a non-pasture to a pasture-based operation or to support adopting alternative breeds. FACT encourages projects from pasture-based farms interested in the adoption of alternative breeds or developing co-operatives with other pasture-based farmers and confinement operations looking to convert to pasture-based systems.
