Whole Farm Diversity: Perennials, Pollinators and Community

Join the Organic Association of Kentucky (OAK) for this free field day at Seedleaf to get a glimpse into Headwater Farm’s fruit and nut orchard, pollinator plantings, wetland and riparian plantings and honeybee hives. Over the past three years, Seedleaf staff and Market Gardeners have worked with the land at Headwater Farm, fostering growth and planting seeds for the future. Through the farm’s Market Gardener program, graduate gardeners plant and tend vegetable, herb, and flower crops to support their agri-businesses at the Lexington Farmers Market. In addition to the annual crops, Seedleaf continues to add a broad diversity of perennials for soil and water protection, wildlife and pollinator habitat, food and visual aesthetics. By mimicking nature’s design, Headwater Farm is evolving to support thriving, healthy social and ecological systems.
