Maddi is a rangeland ecologist who joined the National Center for Appropriate Technology in 2026 as a Technical Assistance Provider working with the Wool Quality Improvement Program. She works with sheep producers in the intermountain west to implement conservation practices and help producers access market-building resources.
Prior to working with NCAT, Maddi worked with sheep producers in Idaho to manage invasive cheatgrass in the Sawtooth National Forest. She also investigated how application of herbicides to control invasive vegetation influences soil nutrient cycling and plant regrowth.
Outside of her research on rangelands, Maddi has worked with sheep and goats on multiple small-scale, regenerative farms in Idaho, Colorado, and Vermont. She is an active member of the rock-climbing community in Idaho. She loves to hike, run, and ski, and spends as much time outdoors as possible.
