General Farm Description: Abe’s Acres Farm is a diversified low-till market garden situated on a historic family farm in beautiful Hightstown, NJ. We grow over 30 crops and over 150 different varieties on 4 acres, including a greenhouse, high tunnel, and caterpillar tunnel. We sell through a small CSA and three local farmers markets. This will be our eighth full growing season.

Internship Details:

Abe’s Acres Farm is seeking an energetic and hardworking candidate to join our farm crew. Crew members are involved in all aspects of vegetable production on our no-till market garden. We work hard, and diligence and attention to detail is absolutely essential. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, able to master tasks and perform them efficiently, interested in learning small-scale vegetable production, and an enthusiastic representative at farmers markets .

Educational Opportunities: CRAFT events Experiential Learning

Skills Desired: Farm crew members will be involved in all aspects of vegetable production including propagation, field production, high tunnel management, harvesting, washing/packing, and marketing. Skills/responsibilities include: Able to lift 50 pounds and spend extended time bent over and kneeling for harvest Work well with a team Communicate effectively with other crew members and with the owner Able to work long hours in all kinds of weather Able to quickly master new tasks, remember them, and perform them effectively and efficiently in the future An enthusiastic salesperson at farmer's markets 1+ years of experience in agriculture preferred, but all candidates will be considered

Meals: Occasionally

Stipend: Expect to work 40-50 hrs per week. Pay range is $15-18/hr depending on experience. Compensation also includes access to abundant fresh vegetables from the farm.
