This video is the second episode in NCAT’s four-part hemp webinar series featuring the nation’s leading hemp experts and focusing on hemp production and cultivation on the West Coast.

It addresses planning hemp operations, risks to keep in mind, whole-farm planning, seed selection, genetics, spacing and design considerations, financial planning, labor planning, irrigation, weed control, fertilization, agronomic best practices, the most common hemp pests, Inegrated Pest Management, organic hemp production, and other considerations for a sustainable hemp operation.

The panel of experts includes Mike Lewis, a sustainable agriculture specialist with NCAT at the Northeast Regional Office; Dr. Shawn Lucas, professor and researcher at Kentucky State University; Dr. Gordon Jones, an Extension agriculture faculty member at Oregon State University’s Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center; Dr. Kadie Britt, a University of California postdoctoral entomology scholar at University of California, Riverside, at the Kearney Agricultural Research Extension Center in Parlier, California; and Paul Murdoch, the owner and general manager of Horn Creek Hemp, a family owned and operated farm in Southern Oregon.
