Internship information

General Farm Description: We are a small farm located in Northern Orange County. We have been providing beautiful flowers to Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Durham for over 20 years. Our primary sales outlet is the Carrboro Farmers' Market. In addition, we sell to several Weaver Street Markets, Durham Central Market, florist and several fine restaurants. Our season starts in January with tulips and other bulb crops coming out of greenhouses. Using unheated hoophouses we produce anemones, ranunculus, snapdragons, lisianthus, campanula and several other specialty cuts. Field production includes peonies as well as spring and summer annuals such bachelor buttons, dianthus, marigolds, sunflowers and zinnias.

Internship Details:

We are looking for 1-2 energetic part-time folks who will work with an eye to detail and a sense of urgency. As with most farms, we work in a wide range of weather conditions- a positive attitude and sense of humor is really helpful. We work hard, but have fun. Experience is not necessary. Duties include, but are not limited to, seeding, greenhouse work, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, bouquet making, market prep, irrigation setup and fence building. We pay a competitive hourly wage. If you are interested in local, small scale flower production this is an excellent opportunity. Email to set up an interview to further discuss pay and schedule.

Educational Opportunities: If individuals are interested - there is opportunity to learn basic construction, welding and electrical.
