General Farm Description: Welcome Table Farm is a small, diversified, certified organic, family farm that produces high quality vegetables, fruit, and flowers just outside Walla Walla, WA. We depend on the skill and strength of people and appropriate tools to grow good food, fine flowers, and responsibly steward the health of the farm. For 2020 we are looking for 1 full time apprentice and 1.5-2 full time employees.CRAFT Member Farm? No

APPRENTICESHIP:
During the apprenticeship the basics of operating a mixed vegetable and flower farm will be shared through hands on participation in the farm system. The apprentice will participate in all aspects of the farm including daily field work, animal chores, planning, and marketing. The goal is for the apprentice to master a breadth of skills and be able to work independently in many different situations, building towards a career in farming. Some prior farming experience required. Full time April/May- October. Monthly stipend. One full week of summer vacation. L&I coverage. Farm food. Possible on-farm housing.
HOURLY EMPLOYMENT:
Bring your previous years of farming experience and join our team for a season of growing and selling good food and fine flowers. Farm work will include seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, marketing, soil prep, tractor work, irrigation, general maintenance. April/May-October. Possible on-farm housing. Part- and full-time positions available. $13.50+/hour, DOE.
Field Hand: We’re looking for an even keeled, hard-working team player, someone who thrives on task completion and jobs well done. 1-2 years prior experience in veggie farming or related labor. This person could also be the lead for our onsite, self-serve farmstand. Monday-Friday
Marketeer: Share your love of eating, flowers, and farming with the Walla Walla community through set-up and sales at the Downtown Farmer’s Market and CSA outreach and delivery. We are looking to hire someone with prior work experience both farming and in the service industry. Attention to detail, a keen visual eye, a strong back, love of cooking, and the ability to keep the friendly smile on all the long day are helpful qualifications. Tuesday-Saturday.
WHAT MAKES WORKING AT WELCOME TABLE so GREAT?
We farm as a team. Everyone has areas of individual responsibility. We come together for weekly farm walks, check-ins, farm lunches, and group projects. We eat really good food. Daily tasks are varied. Weekly routines provide stability. All farmers get to take time off in the summer. The 5-day work week is standard. We practice kind, direct communication. We appreciate problem solving, capability, and positive attitudes. We play towards individual strengths. We have dogs and cats and horses and pigs and kids on the farm. There is a great swimming hole on site. We are located close to town and community. We take pride in our work.

Skills Desired: Apprenticeship- Enough prior experience to demonstrate that farming isn't a purely romantic notion. Employment- Experience in tractor cultivation, marketing, harvest lead, all desirable.
