General Farm Description: Little Sun Farm is a 1/4 acre urban vegetable farm located in NW Fort Collins, CO. The farm is in a start-up phase at a new location as of 2025. We sell primarily at farmers markets, offering a wide mix of different crops and flavorful varieties.

Internship Details:

The Vegetable Production Assistant role involves all aspects from start to finish in producing vegetables. You will help water the seed trays, prep soil and beds for planting, help lay down landscape fabric or other plastic, plant crops by hand or with the paperpot transplanter, set up drip irrigation lines, pull bindweed, harvest, wash and sell at farmers market.

Schedule will change weekly. We have a ditch irrigation system that runs on a 6-day cycle.

 

Educational Opportunities: We value learning on the job. You will have occasional opportunities to tour other local farms. You will also have the ability to ask questions and explore various topics ranging from: plant propagation, succession planting, trellising, bed prep, paperpot transplanting, crop planning, farmers markets, etc.

Skills Desired: '- Comfortable working outdoors, in the elements (rain, wind, extreme heat, etc.) - Ok with wasps, spiders and snakes, as they are regular guests on the farm - Positive past experience working in fast-paced environment is highly preferable (timing yourself and actively working to improve speed sounds fun) - Positive past experience in a physically demanding role including bending, squatting, standing all day, lifting 50 lbs, etc.
