General Farm Description: Founded in 2014 by a group of four young men with disabilities and their families, Terravine Growers now employs eight adults with disabilities (and growing!) year round and operates a 50 share CSA each season. Our focus is not on disability but on capability. With rates of unemployment among adults with disabilities reaching up to 80%, our model of self-employment and entrepreneurship lays a clearer path towards full inclusion, value and meaningful work for adults with disabilities. At Terravine, we take pride in hand cultivating the highest quality seasonal vegetables in the Kittitas Valley using sustainable growing methods and our signature dose of love and attention to detail. Our farm has 1/2 acre in row crops in addition to 70 raised beds, a hydroponic room, and will be opening a year round flower growing building in the spring.

Internship Details:

**This is a FULL TIME, year round position** Our ideal candidate is someone that is dedicated to the importance of environmental stewardship and is energized by building relationships with people of all abilities. Terravine’s produce is available at local farmers markets, area restaurants and through seasonal CSAs. Terravine Growers is committed to natural process farming and organic production practices such as use of compost and other organic material, beneficial insects, cover crops and crop rotation.

SKILLS DESIRED – This position combines practical skills in all areas of small-scale food production, marketing and distribution.

Experience working in vegetable/herb crop production; previous greenhouse and CSA experience is highly desirable.
An educational background in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, or agricultural science, or relevant experience in the above fields is preferred but not necessary.
Working ability to recognize and respond to problem situations; solutions orientated.
Ability to work and make decisions independently with a strong sense of professionalism, integrity, and reliability with exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to communicate with others, flexibility in daily activities and job responsibilities, team player, creativeness and a fun attitude.
The following requirements will need to be met before working on-site: Washington State Background check, Current First Aid/CPR card, valid driver’s license
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to
Operate Farm Program independently when Farm Program Manager is attending to administrative responsibilities.
Accomplish farm-related work tasks that may be time or heat sensitive and require additional labor or that are not able to be completed by the Transitional and Adult Programs. Managing all aspects of growing operation which includes; developing multi-year greenhouse and garden plans, planning start-of-season operations (crop layout, seed selection, marketing strategies etc), monitoring crop development and needs.
Coordinate CSA/Farmers Market/restaurant marketing and distribution.
Coordinate daily work plans for Terravine Growers, staff, volunteers and interns.
Develop and provide in-field training and supervision for growers, with assistance from Trellis staff and volunteers. Train, support and supervise farm interns during their seasonal internship.
Participate in weekly staff meetings; planning and budgeting activities.
Provide direct support for participants.Compensation is competitive
