General Farm Description: Oxford College Farm is a small organic vegetable farm producing food for the campus and community while educating first and second year college students in organic agriculture and food systems. We work on an 11-acre property with 3 acres in annual rotation and fruit trees.

Internship Details:
This is an exciting internship for someone who would like to get experience on a college organic farm. Interns do a little bit of everything on the farm and get to work with full-time staff, student interns, and student workers in the academic year. Reporting to the Oxford College Organic Farmer/Educator, this position is responsible for ground preparation, crop planting, care, weeding, etc. in support of Oxford’s organic farm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for mowing, mulching, and general maintenance of grounds.
Handles the picking, packing, and marketing of crops.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Prefer knowledge of organic farming practices, marketing of produce, and the local food movement.
Horticulture skills of propagation, weeding, scouting, and harvest are also preferred.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
Educational Opportunities: Working on the farm itself is educational and our interns become trainers for our students. We host workshops which staff attend and we visit other area farms from time to time. There are other professional development opportunities as desired.
Skills Desired: Most important is willingness to learn the tasks as we do them and being able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
