General Farm Description: We are a 440 acre diversified, pasture-based livestock farm in Johnsonville, NY. We have 3 main business operations the make up the whole farm:
Pasture-based livestock including 40 pairs of 100% Grass-fed beef cows and on a smaller scale: pasture-raised pigs, meat birds and layers.
Hay production- we produce 500-750 large square bales from our farm
Farm stay- we run a seasonal farm stay business hosting over 300 guests/year to stay on the farm and learn more about our practices and where their food comes from.

Internship Details:
We are looking for someone for the 2023 season from April 10-Nov 10. We are seeking someone to learn while working with us but can also offer the opportunity to run their own complimentary enterprise while here. As well, for the right candidate, this internship could lead to full-time employment. This year we will be completing a few infrastructure projects (fencing and solar well watering system) as well as our normal operations. Apprentice will learn all aspects of rotational grazing a herd of cows as well as other management aspects: tagging, weighing and castration. We are a larger scale beef and hay operation but run a smaller portion of the farm as a small homestead-like operation giving candidates a broad range of experience. We have a strong family connection and would include any apprentice as a part of our farm family. Private housing is provided along with a $250/month stipend.
Educational Opportunities: The educational possibilities are endless. We are engaged in a soil health grant with NESARE and will be hosting a farmer workshop with Allen Williams in October. We have both completed HMI and Ranching for Profit. There are many local programs to become involved in as well. Most importantly there are many things to learn on a daily basis. Farming always has something to teach us and make us use our creativity.
Skills Desired: It would be nice to have someone with some animal husbandry skills and/or but not necessary. We are seeking someone with a passion for farming and learning.
Meals: Meat and eggs are provides. Veggies are when available (garden space available). You will need to do your own cooking however there will be many times we share a meal at the house.
Stipend: $250/month
Housing: Yes, housing is in a 32' fully furnished and equipped camped with heat and A/C.
