General Farm Description: We are a three-acre, intensive market farm with 11 greenhouses/hoophouses, and produce cut flowers, vegetables, and herbs for the Fayetteville Farmers Market, a farm-to-table restaurant, a natural food store, and selected other outlets in the Fayetteville area. The garden borders beautiful Dry Fork Creek, a crystal-clear, spring-fed creek which supplies irrigation water for the garden and orchard, and provides cool, peaceful relaxation during the hot summer months. The garden is part of a larger 40 acre piece of land, mostly forested with oak and pine, and is quite isolated by the surrounding hills of the valley. Internship Details:

This is a unique opportunity to work with well-established organic farmers who have been farming for almost 4 decades, in a pristine Ozark Mountain setting. 4 full-time positions from early March through end of October with stipend of $1200/month, plus excellent accommodations and all meals, valued at $800/mo; housing in new timber frame house or garden yurts, for qualified candidates willing to commit 5 days/week in garden and 1 day per week helping sell veggies and cut flowers at the Farmers Market in Fayetteville. Volunteer positions with room and board (depends on housing available) possible for shorter-term stays. Please email us for a complete description of activities and compensation. We cooperate with the University of Arkansas Center for Food and Farms apprenticeship program, and accepted interns have the possibility of enrolling in this program to receive supplementary education on farm-related topics prior to the start of the apprenticeship year,

Educational Opportunities: Please email us for our complete training plan, which includes organic greenhouse management, cut flower and vegetable production, hoophouse production, and direct marketing to natural foods store, restaurants, and a large Farmers Market. Interns participate in sales on Saturdays at a well-established Farmers Market. Opportunity to practice yoga with host farmer, with daily practice times worked into farm schedule for those interested. Often we have international students through the Multinational Exchange for Sustainable Agriculture (mesaprogram.org), adding interest to our work group. Also, with the help of the Center for Arkansas Food and Farms, we take several field trips to other farms in the area during the season, and interns have the opportunity to sign up for preparatory classes via Zoom in January and February prior to farm placement. We also have a once-weekly evening class time on the farm to specifically study Lean Farming and other cutting-edge market garden methodologies.

Skills Desired: Previous experience on working farms or other horticultural work, passionate enthusiasm for outdoor work with plants; friendly public presentation; suitability for group living situation and working at farmers markets; previous experience with horticultural work preferred; ability to work with field team; interest in yoga/meditation not required but helpful.

Meals: Vegetarian meals provided, with daily cooking rotation among interns and owners.

Stipend: $1200/month cash stipend plus room and board valued at $800/mo. Bonus possible for those who complete the full season apprenticeship.

Housing: Provided. 4 large private bedrooms in new timber frame guest house with two shared bathrooms , two yurts near the garden, 2 small private rooms in upstairs of timber frame barn, and large shared kitchen, dining room, and living room.
