General Farm Description: Crescendum Flower Farm in Arvada, CO (just west of Denver) is a 1.6 acre micro farm that focuses on growing stunning flowers using organic and regenerative practices. We launched the farm in early 2020, just before the pandemic hit, which threw a good deal of our plans for a loop. But we readjusted, added produce to our farm, and carried on. Since that time we have added 30 additional rows to our farm and have been very successful in both the retail and wholesale local flower markets. Our lead farmer, Krista, is a Master Composter for the City of Denver and has established the farm as a satellite educational site for free composting classes for the community.

Internship Details:

Through an internship/apprenticeship with Crescendum Flower Farming you will learn:

– year round farm planning
– season extension
– the principles of “no till” farming
– flower harvesting and storing
– the principles of small scale composting
– soil health
– irrigation
– succession planting
– basic floral design
– marketing
– and a slew of other tid-bits that we are here to share!

Apprenticeships will be granted to those with some farm, environmental or sustainability experience who are looking to further their knowledge and possibly start down their own farming path. One apprentice position will be mainly focused on marketing.
Internships will be granted to college students with a degree interest in agriculture, environmental studies, sustainability or marketing.

These positions require roughly a 12 hour per week commitment (two 6 hour mornings a week) and are unpaid at this time. These positions are how we fill our future paid positions, so they are a great stepping stone. Though we cannot currently provide monetary compensation for your time and sweat, we are certain you will walk away with an abundance of knowledge and experience to take with you into the future, be it on your own farm or in a sustainably focused field.   Apprenticeships start in March and run through late October, while Internships follow the standard school year and start in early-May and run through mid-August; but we’re always in need of additional hands if you’d like to get started sooner.

Educational Opportunities: Hands on, season to season farm planning and operations. Also happy to help students receive credit if their high school or college offers it.

Skills Desired: Self starter, strong communication skills, organization and attention to details, design, marketing, sustainability, environmental studies, agricultural experience a plus, but not a must.

Meals: Nothing official, but we do random "farm lunches" throughout the season and there is always a special end of season send off.

Stipend: Yes... one stipend position is available for an applicant experiencing true economic hardships. This position is intended or someone who does not receive financial help from their family. We hope to be able to pay all of our interns at some point in the future.
