The REAP program helps rural small businesses and agricultural producers lower their energy consumption and costs by providing grant funding for renewable energy systems, energy efficient equipment upgrades, or select building improvements. Projects may receive funding for up to 25% of eligible project costs.
Who can apply?
Potential applicants include farmers and ranchers that receive 50% or more of their gross income directly from agricultural operations. Small businesses located in rural areas where the population does not exceed 50,000 people and meet the size standards set by the Small Business Administration are also eligible. All applicants must have no outstanding delinquent federal taxes, debt, judgment, or debarment.

- Solar system installations
- Other Renewable Energy Generation
- Geothermal Heating/Cooling systems
- LED lighting upgrades
- High-efficiency HVAC improvements
- Cooling and refrigeration
- Insulation
- Doors and windows
- Fuel switching
Technical Assistance Grant – Provided Services
NCAT was awarded a grant by USDA Rural Development to provide free technical assistance to REAP applicants in Montana Native communities. We offer hands-on support throughout the application process, including assistance with all application documents and reports, energy assessments, and submission to USDA. We also offer these services for a fee outside of Native communities
