Gulf States Regional Director Rockiell Woods was a speaker at the recent winter meeting of the Shreveport Credit Union in Clarksdale, MS.
Woods was asked to speak about the Gulf States office and its outreach to support limited resource farmers in the region.
Woods was involved in assisting creation of the Farmers Market in Marks, MS, last summer.
Shreveport Federal Credit Union provided funds for the market which features produce of longtime local grower Frank Wilburn, who practices sustainable farming methods. The market allows a reliable and stable outlet for fresh vegetables in the small town and local Mississippi Delta region.
Shreveport Credit Union, headquartered in Shreveport, La., has local offices in Mississippi — in Marks, Batesville and Clarksdale.
More than 50 people attended the 2013 Winter Wonderland event on Dec. 20.
