The sap is beginning to flow, spring lambs are almost here, and we are starting to seed in the greenhouses. While we still have to muck our way through mud season, NCAT's Northeast Regional Office is excited with our fresh start to the new year. Introducing new employees

Farming in the Northeast is no easy task, but farmers continue to work the land with perseverance, resilience, and ingenuity. In February 2017, The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) moved its Northeast Office to the center of this innovative region. With a new office in downtown Keene, NH, and a new outreach specialist, the team is focused on supporting partner organizations and extending technical assistance to local farmers.

Armed to Farm, Helping Military Veterans

Military veterans are a special breed. Women and men all over the country leave the services with dreams for their future. This is where NCAT's Armed to Farm beginning farmer training program enters the picture.

Upcoming Events

The whole office (Andy, Lee, and Daniel) will be meeting up at the New Hampshire Food Alliance Statewide Gathering on March 9
in New London, NH.

Andy and Daniel will head to the Urban Farming Conference in Boston, MA, on March 17, where Andy will be presenting two sessions: one on farm business planning and the other on tools and equipment for the urban farm.

Then, the first week of April the team will head to St. Louis, MO, for the ATTRA/SARE Conference. This joint conference between the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE) and NCAT's ATTRA Program is in celebration of both organizations' 30th anniversaries in sustainable agriculture. ATTRA Specialists will be hosting a pre-conference session for past participants of NCAT's Armed to Farm Program for military veterans. Then they will stick around and participate in the full conference.
