The Latino Farmer Conference is Coming!

The Latino Farmer Conference is Coming!

It’s just over two months until the 5th annual Latino Farmer Conference, set for Tuesday, November 19, in Tulare, California. This year’s conference will be held at the Tulare International Agri-Center.

The goal of the conference is to share information about sustainable agriculture production to fill knowledge gaps that are impacting Latino farmers. In order to facilitate the learning process, all presentations will be conducted in Spanish (some material is translated into English). Presentations will focus on conservation strategies and practices that help farmers become sustainable.

In order to help identify this year’s workshop topics, NCAT conducted a series of partner meetings with farmers, non-profits, businesses, and government organizations. Folks were invited to share what they see as the primary information and resource needs of Latino farmers in California.

Here are a few of the topic areas that will be discussed at this year’s conference:

-Sustainable soil management
-Pest management/pesticide safety
-Farm financing and business management
-Marketing
-Laws and regulations which affect farmers across the state
-Risk management

This one-day conference attracts nearly 300 attendees and 30 exhibitors, including organizations that provide services of all kinds to farmers.

The conference will include:
-Two breakout sessions with a total of eight workshop topics to choose from
-Farmer panel
-Lunch
-A mixer to provide farmers with ample opportunity to network with other attendees and with exhibitors.

Attendees are charged a registration fee of $20 which can be paid through our website (preferred) or at the door on the day of the conference. For farmers traveling more than 3 hours, we have a limited number (first come first served) of sponsored rooms available the night before the conference. A large portion of the conference is paid for through sponsorships. You can learn more about registration, room availability, and sponsor opportunities on our website: https://latinofarmerconference.ncat.org/ingles.php
