How can a farmer establish a successful sustainable livestock operation? Like any other business enterprise, planning is the key to building a solid farm foundation.

On October 15-16, the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) and the University of Arkansas will offer a workshop, “Farm Foundations: Planning for Success,” at Cedar Creek Farm in Cedarville, Arkansas.

The workshop will focus on business planning, marketing, and sustainable livestock production. It will include a tour of Cedar Creek Farm and hands-on training on topics including pastured poultry production, pastured pork, and grass-fed cattle.

There is no cost for the workshop, but registration is limited. Dinner on October 15 and lunch on October 16 will be included, along with resource materials.

For more information about the workshop, contact NCAT at 479-442-9824 or email margoh@ncat.org.

To register, go online to the NCAT website at https://www.ncat.org/events.
