Members of the NCAT Gulf States office partnered recently with the National Women in Agriculture Coastal Region to host a free beginning farmer workshop.
NCAT Agriculture Program Specialist Felicia Bell gave a talk on obtaining government assistance for new, women, minority and historically underserved farmers, and Outreach Coordinator Jim Ewing spoke on turning gardens into profits and expanding them.
The program was held Feb. 15 at McIntosh Homes in Leakesville, MS, and also covered the topics of livestock and vegetable production, and local programs for starting a goat herd.
