Gulf States Office Celebrates Farm-to-School Food

 

Members of the NCAT Gulf States office were honored guests recently  for a celebration of food and those who provide it in the Mississippi Delta region.

Gulf States Regional Director Rockiell Woods and Agriculture Specialist Felicia Bell shared in the celebration at the 3rd Annual Harvest Celebration and Awards Gala in Clarksdale, MS, Oct. 24.

The event was held to recognize Delta farm to school leaders and to give out Growing Together Garden Network awards presented by the Delta Fresh Foods Initiative, which hosted the event with WhyHunger.

Started in 2010, Delta Fresh Foods is a diverse coalition of community stakeholders committed to establishing sustainable, equitable community food systems in the Mississippi Delta. It includes growers, consumers, health and agriculture educators, food retailers (including farmers’ markets and other outlets), community-based organizations, funders, healthy food advocates and others.
