Gulf States Office Attends Grazing Conference

Members of the NCAT Gulf States Office attended the 1st Mississippi Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Conference Sept. 9-10 in Natchez, Miss.

The two-day event at the Natchez Convention Center was put on by the South Area Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Committee with the intention that the conference will be an annual event.

In addition to workshops on dairy and beef cattle raising, the conference provided seminars on small ruminants and an update on continuing negotiations over the U.S. Farm Bill. A featured speaker was Allan Nation, publisher of the Stockman Grass Farmer, who spoke about the history of grazing in South Mississippi.

The workshops were informative and we intend to attend the 2nd annual event!
