Gulf States NCAT Hosts Free Garden Seminar, Field Day

A free seminar on Planting and Planning Your Garden is offered March 12 by the National Center for Appropriate Technology Gulf States office in Jackson, Miss.

The event kicks off the Empowering Farmers Series for 2014. The talk will be followed by a field day on March 15 at Tougaloo-Rainbow Gardens located on the Tougaloo College campus.

Both events are in collaboration with Gaining Ground – Sustainability Institute of Mississippi – Central Chapter.

The seminar begins at 4 p.m. and is taught by NCAT Agriculture Specialist Felicia Bell at the NCAT Gulf States offices at 2548 Livingston Road, location of the old New Deal Grocery in the Mississippi Roadmap to Health Equity building at the Jackson Medical Mall.

Past workshops include Legal Risk Management: Protecting Your Farm and Your Family, Strategies and Tools for Saving Local Farms, and the Importance of Marketing.
