REDUCED MATERIAL USE
Consider:

What structural materials are harvested or obtained locally? Are the impacts of obtaining these materials less than the impact of bringing in materials from further away?

Does it make sense to use material from the site itself for the structure?
Specifically, would wall systems made from the soil at the site serve the function of the building? (Remember to consider climatic appropriateness) Possibilities would include rammed earth, earth block, adobe, cob or straw/clay.

Especially consider local sources of reused materials for wall framing, such as steel or wood beams.
